Dana Simson is the whirlwind force behind wildly whimsical Chesapeake East ceramics and décor sold and collected through fine galleries internationally. She works with many companies designing products including fabric, home décor, gift items, and publishing. Dana's creations are in the collections of several national museums, and have been featured in Hollywood movies, including Titantic.

Dana has authored and illustrated 14 books, including the magical Legend book series for children. As a visiting author and inspirational speaker for schools and colleges she developed Imagination Nation^TM a curriculum for growing imagination and confidence skills.

The big sky beauty of the Chesapeake Bay provides constant joy and inspiration for the rich colors, patterns that define Dana's work. "Nature will give you the most wonderful gifts if you slow down to see them." Dana and her husband John are working on restoring their fifth historic building, which they call "Secret House." It has been empty for over thirty years. They don't believe in dull moments. Everyday is full of potential and adventure.

Nothing pleases Dana more than the joy of seeing an idea evolve. It is not uncommon to find their whole family, including young Ruby and Eli, working over drawings and stories. Each of Dana's books and illustrations were created with a baby on her lap or a small boy running his train down her arm. "Imagine positive" and enjoying the process of living.
